The so-called S-Lay unit, tentatively named DLV2000, will be equipped with dynamic positioning for deep-water pipelay operations at depths of up to 10,000 feet.

The vessel, developed by Keppel’s ship design subsidiary Marine Technology Development, will also have a 2000-tonne crane for structural work, 450 tonnes of S-lay tension with a rigid stinger and a 200-tonne crane for subsea installation.

Delivery is scheduled for mid-2015 under the design and construction contract, which is reported to be worth $450 million.
