The ministry said it has “decided to ask Norges Bank to include oil spills and the environmental conditions in the Niger Delta in its ownership efforts for a period of between five and ten years”.
Such a decision means that the fund would look to invest in the companies in order to see “whether active ownership might reduce the risk of future norm violations,” according to the ministry’s website.
