The company estimated the spill released about 10,000 barrels of crude, some of which escaped into the Coca river and may continue downstream to Peru, Petroecuador said, adding that it had alerted officials in its neighbour to the south.
Other unconfirmed press reports suggested the spill may exceed 420,000 barrels of oil.
A mountainside collapse on Friday displaced the Sote line nearly 40 metres from a nearby road, leaving rock blocking the route.
