South Korea's STX Heavy Industries has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract at the Garraf oilfield in Iraq's Thi Qar Province.
The $99.5 million contract was awarded
by Malaysia's Petronas and relates to a gas treatment facility being
built at the field to treat the
associated gas from the Mishriff
oil train and supply it to a power plant at the Garraf field.
Under the contract STX will be
responsible for the EPC and commissioning of the project which is
expected to run for 24 months, with completion scheduled for the end
of November 2015.
Production from the Garraf field
commenced last year and is expected to eventually ramp up to 230,000
barrels of oil per day by 2017.
