Pemex worker dies of injuries

Pemex fire: One worker succumbs to injuries

A Pemex worker hurt in a platform fire at the Cantarell oilfield over the weekend has succumbed to his injuries, the Mexican state player said on Monday.

Three workers, two from Pemex and one from the Autonomous University of Carmen, were hurt after the blaze on the Akal TD platform on Saturday.

One Pemex worker and the university worker remained in hospital, Pemex said on Monday through its Twitter feed.

The oil company did not supply any details on the identity of the worker or the conditions of the remaining two.

The fire apparently originated from sparks in a drilling unit motor, Pemex said.
