Apache rocked the oil world this summer with the announcement of its Alpine High discovery in the southern Delaware basin and now the company plans to prove that the play can compete with some of the best acreage in the world.
Houston-based Apache’s initial 19 results at Alpine High focused on a series of natural gas wells targeting the Woodford and Barnett shales, formations that are tapped in other parts of Texas and in Oklahoma but rarely drilled in the Permian.
