Asset prices on both sides of the Permian basin in the US have soared in the past year to as much as $60,000 per acre.

Bankers evaluating deals say the acreage in the Midland and Delaware basins is often worth every penny and perhaps even more.

“The Permian is the hottest play in the country right now and arguably the hottest play in the world,” says Geoff Roberts, head of the US A&D group at BMO Capital Markets.
