HIGH acreage prices are making it difficult for private companies, which have traditionally played a large part in development of the Permian basin, to compete with larger public rivals for acreage, writes Noah Brenner.
“From a historical standpoint it’s the highest it’s ever been — it’s never been close to this,” veteran Permian oilman Jim Henry says of area acreage prices.
