“The biggest challenge was making the internal parts robust enough to handle wellstream gas,” he says.
MAN has more than 100 compressors based on the company’s oil-free integrated motor (HOFIM) technology in the field. “But most of them run on pipeline gas, which is nice and clean and dry. So the marinisation process was really to make it fit for the typical wellstream gas quality,” says Zweifel.
