Ukraine continues to insist that Gazprom had no unilateral right to bring up the gas price to $486 per thousand cubic metres from 1 April.
Ukrainian Energy Minister Yuri Prodan said a latest round of talks between state players Naftohaz Ukrainy and Gazprom had not led to any compromise. Naftohaz is now preparing to battle Gazprom in an international arbitration chamber in Stockholm, Sweden, arguing that it has the right to buy Russian gas at a lower, market-based price.
