The Canadian division of the US-based pipeline company faces one federal charge under the Fisheries act for failing to report the release of 2900 barrels of sour crude from its Rangeland pipeline as required under Alberta law.

The incident occurred on 7 June, 2012. The provincial charge stems from an Alberta Environment & Sustainable Resources Development investigation that found Plains neglected to report the release as required by the province’s Environmental Protection & Enhancement act.

The
