Pre-front-end engineering and design work for the proposed three-train 20 million tonnes per annum liquefaction project will be completed this month, said Alaska Governor Bill Walker.

He admitted some observers claimed the project had “crashed and burned” with the departure of three top-flight partners, but said AKLNG was still worth proceeding with.

“If you envisage the flames of a project that was not going to work because of the ownership structure, I see those as the beginning, of the launching of getting Alaska’s gas project across the finishing line,” said Walker.
