NIGERIAN militants have issued fresh warnings to the federal government that attacks on oil and gas infrastructure will resume if officials enter into negotiations with local political figures purporting to represent the people of the Niger Delta.

The threat from the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) emerged as former militants comprising the now-defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (Mend) publicly endorsed negotiations proposed for 31 October between President Muhammadu Buhari and the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, led by Ijaw leader and former Federal Commissioner Chief Edwin Clark.
