Liu Yunian, the acting general manager of Chinese module specialist Penglai Jutal Offshore Engineering (PJOE), has seen his company grow from humble beginnings.
In 2004 when he first arrived at Penglai on China’s Shandong peninsula, the site of the PJOE yard was marshland.
“It was real hardship to get things going,” Liu says of the early days of the company.
He first focused on the construction of the yard, and later on delivery of modules built for international projects such as the Yamal liquefied natural gas project in Russia.
