Parent company Pacific Oil & Gas hopes to begin construction on the project, which is expected to be Canada’s first West Coast LNG facility, next year.

Start-up is expected in 2020. Once it is up and running, the Squamish-area plant is expected to export 2.1 million tonnes per annum.

Woodfibre is expected to create 650 jobs during construction and 100 operational jobs over the 25-year lifespan of the project.
