The Seadrill-owned drillship West Saturn began drilling the Mesurado-1 well in Block LB-13 this week, block partner Canadian Overseas Petroleum said.
The well, situated about 80 miles offshore and in 2500 metres of water, is targeting Late Cretaceous sands. It is not known how long drilling is set to take.
