Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the NSP in the Mahanadi basin area in October.
The data acquisition will be carried out across 26 sedimentary basins.
State-owned players Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Oil India Ltd (OIL) are to carry out the 2D seismic data campaign on behalf of the ministry.
Several key contracts have been awarded by ONGC and OIL to acquire this onshore seismic, say sources.
