Paris and Houston-based Schlumberger and National Iranian South Oil Fields Company (Nisoc) have signed a preliminary agreement to carry out a six-month study of several oil layers at onshore oilfields in south-west Iran, according to Nisoc.
Schlumberger, which was heavily fined by US authorities last year for alleged sanctions violations in Iran, told Upstream it had signed a memorandum of understanding for what it called a “technical evaluation of a field development prospect”.
