Norway and Russia agreed to work together on seismic acquisition in the Barents Sea at a meeting between the oil ministers of both countries in Oslo this week, with a unitisation pact also in the pipeline.
The preliminary agreement, likely to be formally signed by the end of the year, would enable seismic survey vessels from both countries to cross the maritime border as part of exploration efforts to exploit potentially huge resources in the Arctic region.
