The Greek player secured a new 25-year offshore exploitation license for the field, part of the 60- square kilometre Katakolon concession area. Energean will be the operator of the field development.
“The progression of West Katakolon will be the first ever hydrocarbon production programme in the west of the country, and a major boost to the economy following the challenges of the last few years,” Energean chief executive Mathios Rigas said.
