New woe for JX Nippon’s Deep Producer 1 floater

Japanese operator JX Nippon is in damage control mode as its main contractor for the Layang oil project off Sarawak, Malaysia, continues to suffer project execution woes.

The Japanese operator hired Malaysia’s TH Heavy Engineering (THHE) in May 2014 to convert the Laurita, a partly converted floating production, storage and offloading vessel, into the Deep Producer 1 FPSO for Layang.
