Kinder Morgan is bracing itself for the host of protests and legal challenges it expects to see now that the Canadian federal government has approved its proposed C$6.8 billion (US$5.1 billion) TransMountain Expansion pipeline.

Immediately after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the project was in the country’s best interests, political opponents, environmental groups and aboriginal communities spoke out in opposition and said they would fight the approval through the courts and civil disobedience.
