Moex North America, a subsidiary of Japanese giant Mitsui, acquired a 20% stake from Shell in Kaikias and another nearby prospect, Circius. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The assets span Mississippi Canyon blocks 767, 768, 811 and 812 in the US Gulf, about 100 kilometres south of New Orleans in about 1300 metres of water, an area Shell calls the “deep-water heartland”.
