According to Gazprom, it signed “strategic co-operation agreements” with Japan’s Mitsui and Mitsubishi, calling for the companies to co-operate in LNG business, including the expansion of the Gazprom-led Sakhalin 2 project.

The two Japanese companies are minority shareholders in the Sakhalin 2 consortium that is working on a project to add a third processing train to the existing LNG plant in Prigorodnoye in the south of Sakhalin Island.
