Sherwood Forest in the UK, made famous by the legend of Robin Hood and his motley crew of Merry Men, is being lined up as a possible shale gas fracking site by Ineos.
The chemicals giant has been given permission for a two-year survey at the site in Nottinghamshire that will see it burying charges and using vibroseis machines, with environmental campaigners up in arms that drilling could eventually come within a few hundred metres of a legendary oak tree.
