The LNG project envisages a receiving and regasification facility on Kutubdia Island and pipeline infrastructure to deliver the regasified volumes.

The LNG import terminal, which is expected to have a capacity of 7.5 million tonnes per annum, is touted for completion in about four years’ time. The non-binding memorandum of understanding was signed on 29 December in Dhaka by Petronet LNG’s managing director Prabhat Singh and Petrobangla secretary Syed Ashfaquzzaman.
