Norway’s Statoil is set to host key meetings this month with a select group of contractors vying to build the hull and living quarters (LQ) for a newbuild floating production, storage and offloading vessel for its $9 billion Johan Castberg project in the Barents Sea.

Market sources described the meetings as “familiarisation talks” that aim to orientate bidders on Statoil’s contracting strategy for the hull-LQ package and how that fits into its overall development approach for Johan Castberg.
