US independent Kosmos Energy and its fresh farm-in partner BP are set to begin a four-well wildcat programme off Senegal and Mauritania in the second quarter of this year, targeting potential resources of up to 15 billion barrels of oil equivalent.

Kosmos chief executive Andy Inglis told analysts last week that “exploration is starting in the second quarter of this year with three firm wells targeting some of the largest undrilled prospects identified on the Atlantic margin”.

He
