BP is one step closer to cutting steel for its Mad Dog 2 project in the US Gulf of Mexico after firming up a $1.26 billion contract with Samsung Heavy Industries to provide the newbuild production unit.
The South Korean shipbuilder on 5 January revealed it had secured a 1.5 trillion won ($1.26 billion) job for an unnamed US client, understood to be BP.
