According to the company, a rapid acceleration of export deliveries to Europe in the fourth quarter of the year led to total exports of over 179 Bcm of gas last year, up from 159 Bcm in 2015.
About half of this amount — 82 Bcm — was delivered to Europe via the traditional transit route across Ukraine, which remains the cheapest transportation option for Gazprom, despite its criticism of Ukraine as an unreliable transit partner, analysts noted.
