Abigail Ross Hopper will become chief executive at the Solar Energy Industries Association, a trade group, with effect on 17 January.

Her deputy, Walter Cruickshank, has taken on the top Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) job on an interim basis. The veteran official has spent more than 30 years with BOEM and its predecessor agency. He holds a bachelor’s degree in geological sciences from Cornell University and a doctorate in Mineral Economics from Pennsylvania State University.
