Conspiracy theorists accusing Russian operatives of driving the anti-fracking movement in the US got a boost of credibility last week from a report released by US intelligence experts.

The declassified report, released by the US Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), details Russia’s alleged role in swaying the US presidential election through hacking and other means.

But it also notes other ways President Vladimir Putin’s country has tried to promote its national interests, largely through broadcasts by news source RT, which the ODNI calls the Kremlin’s “principal international propaganda outlet”.
