The British Columbia government in Canada has given its stamp of approval for the proposed Trans Mountain expansion by granting the C$6.8-billion (US$5.1 billion) pipeline an environmental assessment certificate.

The EA certificate marks the last regulatory hurdle the proposed 890,000-barrel-per-day Trans Mountain expansion had to clear before its proponent, Kinder Morgan Canada, makes a final investment decision later this year.
