Open acreage off the north of Irian Jaya in Indonesia is believed to hold promise for oil and gas resources, writes Iain Esau.

Two separate 2D seismic surveys totalling 3215 kilometres of data were recently shot in the Caroline Sea, running from Biak and Yapen islands in the west to Papua New Guinea’s border in the east, according to UK-based SpecPartners, which is marketing the data.
