US independent Anadarko Petroleum has sold its Eagle Ford shale assets in South Texas for around $2.3 billion to a consortium of smaller rival Sanchez Energy and private equity firm Blackstone Group in a move analysts said made sense for the company, even though the price was below expectations.
The sale package includes about 155,000 net acres primarily located in Dimmit and Webb counties.
