The onshore count fell by six in the week ending 13 January, bringing the total to 634, compared with the 623 rigs seen a year ago, according to energy services player Baker Hughes.

That decline ended the longest weekly streak of adding rigs since August 2011 at 10 straight weeks.

Drillers added rigs for 19 straight weeks in 2011.

Wyoming saw the biggest gains, adding two for a total of 19.
