UK supermajor BP is forging ahead with the $8 billion expansion of its Tangguh liquefied natural gas project in Indonesia’s West Papua province, where it is targeting first production in 2020.

In the latest signal of its desire to keep momentum building, BP has invited four local contractors and potentially others to bid for work on a new logistics base at Sorong that will help support Tangguh’s expansion, involving a third liquefaction train.
