The gas giant said that it presented a $5.3 billion bill to Naftohaz for its refusal to buy gas from Gazprom in the period between the second and fourth quarters of last year.
Gazprom argued that under a 10-year contract between the two companies, signed in 2009, Naftohaz should buy a minimum volume of about 42 billion cubic metres of Russian gas per year.
