The field has so far produced 7 million barrels, according to the North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) operating the field, which lies in the shallow waters of the North Caspian Sea.

Kashagan is now ramping up to a capacity of 180,000 bpd on the way to a phase one target of 370,000 bpd, which will be achieved through the re-injection of associated sour gas, NCOC said.
