ExxonMobil is entering the Delaware sub-basin and doubling its overall position in the greater Permian basin through a deal with the billionaire Bass family that could be worth as much as $6.6 billion.

Companies being acquired by the Irving, Texas-based supermajor include operating entity Bopco, and hold about 275,000 acres of leasehold with net production of more than 18,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
