A total of 29 companies were handed licence stakes in the so-called awards in pre-defined areas (APA) round, out of 33 that had applied. Domestic players Statoil and Aker BP got the most, with interests in 29 and 21 licences, respectively.

Other high-grossing companies included both newer and well-established players. Shell and ConocoPhillips got seven and six licence stakes, respectively, independent start-up Wellesley Petroleum got eight, Capricorn got seven, while Concedo, Lotos, Point Resources and Wintershall landed interests in five licences each.
