ConocoPhillips has pre-qualified global engineering majors to compete for the front-end engineering and design contract related to the large floating production, storage and offloading vessel bound for the Caldita-Barossa gas project off northern Australia.

Sources said the US operator is looking to accelerate the bidding contest, and is considering issuing the invitation to tender within the first quarter.

Engineering majors including KBR, WorleyParsons, Fluor, Technip, Wood Group and Aker Solutions are among the shortlisted companies, as are FPSO companies SBM Offshore, Modec, BW Offshore, Bumi Armada and possibly others, said sources.
