The American Petroleum Institute (API) has finally got its way in a tussle with regulators which has been going on since 2010.

That was the year the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform & Consumer Protection Act was introduced in a bid to help prevent a repeat of the 2008 banking crisis.
