Jonas Moberg’s goal is to make his job obsolete. That is not likely to happen anytime soon.

For the past 10 years, the 47-year-old Swedish lawyer has led the Oslo-based international secretariat of the Extraction Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), a global standard promoting openness and accountability in the oil and gas and mining industries.

So far, the organisation has encouraged 51 countries to adopt the standard, making particular headway in Africa.
