France’s Total has told the Azerbaijan government it will need more official support if it is to achieve a new speeded-up schedule for a final investment decision on the Absheron gas and condensate discovery in the Caspian Sea and production of first gas in 2019.
The Azeri Energy Ministry said Total’s Continental Europe & Central Asia vice president Michael Borrell told Energy Minister Natik Aliyev last week that the schedule agreed in a November framework needs “stronger support” from the ministry.
