BHP Billiton struck what it termed a “significant” Miocene-aged gas find last year at its Le Clerc well on Block TTDAA 5 off the east coast of Trinidad, which some Upstream sources have estimated could be as large as 1 trillion cubic feet.

“This marks the first discovery in the deep-water Caribbean and the potential opening of a new gas play,” BHP president of conventional assets Geraldine Slattery says at the Trinidad & Tobago Energy Conference in Port of Spain.
