Two Birchcliff Energy wells are “on track to be among the best the company has drilled” in the Pouce Coup area in northwestern Alberta, according to a BMO Capital Markets note.

One well averaged 2098 barrels of oil equivalent per day on a nine-day test, while the other averaged nearly 1297 boepd on an 18-day test.

The wells, which target the liquids-rich Montney D1 zone, were drilled during the fourth quarter.
