The tiny West African nation has opened its new capital city of Djibloho (also called Oyala), deep in the jungle and closer to the eastern border with Gabon, with government officials taking up residence for an initial three-month period.
The decision to quit Malabo, located on an island offshore, as the capital was taken years ago, with security fears and a desire by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema to create a “city of the future” being the driving impulses.
