Swedish operator Lundin Petroleum has made an oil and gas discovery that could become a third new Norwegian development in the Loppa High area ion the southern Barents Sea.

The company is now in talks with its partners to add two more wells to their exploration plans this year to probe other nearby prospects.

At best, the Filicudi licence could hold between 300 million and 700 million barrels of oil equivalent, enough to justify a stand-alone development, Lundin chief executive Alex Schneiter said.
