India's Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS) has won a contract to install a section of Gail’s Kochi-Koottanad-Mangaluru pipeline, writes Amanda Battersby.

The pipeline will transport gas from Gail’s Kochi liquefied natural gas import terminal to industry in south India.

The contractor is tasked with laying the 105-kilometre Perole-Kodalamuguru-Mangaluru section of the much-delayed pipeline project.

This award means that the 440-kilometre pipeline will soon be worked on at both ends and Gail is now targeting its completion by December 2018.
